We thoroughly tested the new Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 and show you in this review what the smart wet cleaner can do.

The Smart Wet-Dry Vacuum Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 in Review

The Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 raises high expectations, as its predecessor Tineco One S5 already impressed with excellent cleaning performance in all vacuum mop tests. We took a close look at the device with suction function and tested it on various types of dirt. The performance of the One S5 Pro 2 thoroughly convinced us in various situations. On the other hand, there's a high purchase price, which quickly raises the question of whether the expense is worth it. In our Tineco One S5 Pro 2 test, we address this question in detail and compare the model with other models in the Tineco S5 series.

The Most Important Test Results of the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 Summarized

We were able to test several vacuum mops this year and, after all our experiences, are completely convinced by the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2.

In our test, Tineco's current top model in the vacuum mop category proved to be a smooth-running, mature, and high-quality device with little to criticize.

In everyday use, we especially appreciated the quick readiness of the S5 Pro, its thoroughness, and easy handling. It's perfectly suited for quickly wiping up something, but also for longer sessions. However, for areas over 80 m², the battery reaches its limits. With an operating time of about 35 minutes, you may need to divide the cleaning into multiple rounds or work particularly quickly.

In the stress test, the One S5 Pro 2 showed its full strength – neither tomato ketchup, nor cream or oat flakes could stop it. With just one pass, everything was gone – exemplary! Another plus point is the brush, which is designed so that it wipes almost edge-to-edge on one side. This means you can reach almost everything that escapes into corners and would otherwise require additional work.

The additional Ultra mode hasn't been used often by us so far. However, it has two advantages that may convince some: 1. In many cases, you can save on cleaning agents, as the electrolyzed water has a disinfecting effect. 2. The brush is also cleaned with the electrolyzed water during self-cleaning, which keeps it free from bad odors longer and can thus save costs for replacement brushes. In sum, some savings potential that you buy with the new feature of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2.

In addition to this, there are a few other nice-to-have features, such as the modern LCD display with animations and the WiFi connection, which enables app control. This allows, among other things, setting the language to German. These gimmicks offer somewhat more comfort, but are not urgently required.

The cleaning is easy to handle and takes only a few minutes. The whole process is made easier by the self-cleaning mode, in which the brush is thoroughly rinsed. A few hairs get caught in the floor nozzle from time to time and are either lost during mopping or must be removed by hand beforehand.

The concept of the charging station with holders for drying spare filters and brushes is definitely practical, even though in our opinion it looks somewhat untidy in appearance.

All in all, the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 is a well-rounded device with the most modern equipment and this is also noticeable when mopping. It leaves nothing behind, whether on the surface or at the side edges. The only real drawback is its price. Currently, a hefty surcharge of 80 euros and up is demanded for the small enhancements it offers compared to the Tineco One S5 ([url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4202/tineco-one-s5-s5-pro-pro-2-s5-combo-und-s5-steam-im-vergleich",name="see comparison",title=""]). Those who don't want to do without the LCD display, suction mode, and Ultra mode can also wait for one of the regular promotions, in which it has been available for under 560 euros.

Who is Tineco anyway?

Tineco is a subsidiary of the well-known company Ecovacs Robotics, which has made a name for itself here primarily through high-quality robot vacuums. Although vacuum cleaners have been manufactured since 1998, the Tineco brand was only brought to market in 2018 and is based in Suzhou, China. The product range includes intelligent vacuum and wash cleaners that work particularly energy-efficiently with smart iLoop sensor technology. The best-known products are the cordless vacuums of the Tineco Pure One S series, such as the One S12 PRO EX, and the wet cleaners of the Floor One series, such as the Floor One S5.

We would like to thank Tineco for providing the test device at this point.

The Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 in the Cleaning Test

Cleaning Modes

  1. Auto: In Auto mode, the Tineco automatically detects the floor's dirt level via the iLoop sensor and adjusts the amount of water and suction power accordingly
  2. Max: In Max mode, maximum suction power and water amount are applied to remove stubborn dirt
  3. Ultra: In Ultra mode, the cleaning water is electrolyzed using electricity. During this process, you can see air bubbles rising in the fresh water tank. Electrolyzed water is known for killing bacteria and pathogens naturally. The process takes about 30 seconds. After that, the cleaning process should be particularly thorough. This feature is currently only available on the Tineco S5 Pro 2 and S7 Pro.
  4. Suction: In suction mode, the device only sucks up liquids but doesn't add water

Cleaning Features

The [url="https://amzn.to/3uG1HIc",name="Tineco One S5 Pro 2",title=""] has numerous features that enable excellent cleaning performance. Before we discuss our test, we want to go into more detail about how the Tineco One S5 Pro S2 works:

The Most Important Cleaning Features at a Glance

  1. Rotating brush roller
  2. Suction function
  3. iLoop Smart Sensor
  4. Two-tank system: Fresh water and waste water
  5. Electrolyzed water
  6. Edge-to-edge cleaning in corners and at side edges
  7. Cleaning agents

Cleaning Features of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 in Detail

The One S5 Pro uses, like its predecessor, a rotating brush roller for cleaning. This is simply hung in the floor nozzle via a magnetic spindle system and can be easily removed for cleaning purposes (more on this later). Water is continuously applied to the brush depending on the degree of dirt and keeps it moist. The water is then spread on the floor and largely sucked up again, so it lands directly in the waste water tank.

In addition to "mopping and suction," it can also just vacuum. The individual functions can be conveniently switched on the handle.

The proprietary iLoop sensor technology (only at Tineco) is already familiar to us from earlier models – The sensor detects wet and dry dirt and deposits and adjusts suction power, roller speed, and water flow accordingly to work thoroughly on one hand and energy-efficiently on the other.

At 0.7 liters, the waste water tank is generously sized, but in our test on 85 m², it had to be emptied and cleaned at least once in between. The fresh water tank needed to be refilled somewhat less often. The tank measures 0.8 liters and in our applications was sufficient for an area of about 40 m² in AUTO mode.

For cleaning, you can add cleaning agents. Tineco has a special cleaning agent for this, one bottle of which is included in the scope of delivery.

On blogs, you occasionally read the tip to use self-mixed cleaning agents. Here, everyone must decide for themselves whether they want to expose the expensive device to the risk of wearing out faster. I personally clean mostly with clear water and otherwise trust (especially during the warranty period) the manufacturer's cleaning agent.

To better clean corners and edges, the brush of the S5 Pro 2 was constructed so that it is driven on one side, but on the other side is hung almost edge-to-edge. Even when turning in corners, you can reach almost to the corner tip. This allows cleaning almost without residue in difficult places. Small point of criticism: Since the edge-to-edge side is only one-sided, you have to turn the device to clean properly at opposite edges. This forces you to walk in your own cleaning path and requires a quick re-wipe at the end. Ingeniously, the Tineco Pure One S7 Pro was able to leave this problem behind and now offers almost edge-to-edge cleaning on both sides – We say great!

How we tested:

  • Everyday use: The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 was regularly used by us in recent weeks in various situations. Important was removing dried and sticky stains, hair and crumbs, and sucking up liquids on various hard floors.
  • Stress test: In the stress test, we contaminated various floors with heavy soiling, then used the vacuum mop and checked the cleanliness level of the floor with a white cloth afterward

Everyday Test

In everyday use, the Tineco proves to be a fast and easy-to-handle device that is well suited both for spontaneous use when something is spilled and for weekly mopping.

In our household with a dog (light fur color), we also removed quite a bit of hair that we had hardly noticed on the light floor before. It reliably picked these up, so we could dispose of them without problems via the dirty water container. Only deeper joints are difficult for the Tineco to reach, meaning you have to pull longer and sideways for the joints to be cleaned.

In everyday use, the Tineco S5 Pro 2 mainly conveyed one thing to us – a feeling of cleanliness that we no longer want to miss.

Stress Test – Cleaning on Tiles and Granite

Depending on the floor's condition, we were able to achieve good to very good cleaning results in the test. First, we distributed some oat flakes, cream, and tomato sauce on the tile floor.

Test Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2

The oat flakes posed no problem for the Tineco. Where it passed over, no flake remained in the test.

The cream could also be completely removed in one pass. We also couldn't observe any fat residue. The automatic suction power adjustment worked reliably with liquids, as can be heard well in the video below. However, it was sometimes somewhat delayed, so the stain was more or less already eliminated before the suction power was increased.

The tomato sauce also had no chance against the Tineco's brush. Not even two passes were needed here to completely suck up the sauce. In the following video, you can see the S5 Pro 2's work for yourself:

Additionally, we cleaned some dried stains from footprints and chair leg marks. Several wiping passes were needed to remove these. However, you would have had considerable effort with manual cleaning to remove the dried stains. In sum, a very satisfactory mopping result.

Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2 stress test

In the test, it finally achieved a result of 87.5% and is thus, behind the [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4514/tineco-floor-one-s7-pro-im-test-der-neue-testsieger",name="Tineco Floor One S7 Pro",title=""], the best mop vacuum in the test so far. Below you'll find all tests in detail.

Design and Build Quality

In terms of design, Tineco has done excellent work. The wet-dry vacuum not only looks modern but also makes a high-quality impression. The housing is predominantly made of matte plastic and appears robust. The panel gaps, built-in parts, and seals are also fine. The device doesn't make squeaking noises or similar. The display is set off with a glossy ring and the lettering below "tineco" is applied in chrome. The handle is connected to the main module via an aluminum rod. Rubberized wheels and two smaller wheels on the floor nozzle ensure smooth pulling and pushing of the device with sufficient grip to change directions well. The floor nozzle is offset in white and makes a simple but elegant impression. In sum, a stylish and high-quality device. [asin="B09QGH2J9N",type="blank"]

Dimensions and Weight of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2

The Tineco is relatively light. Our scale shows an empty weight of 4.5 kg. During cleaning, most of the weight is carried by the floor nozzle, so the [url="https://amzn.to/3uG1HIc",name="Tineco One S5 Pro 2",title=""] didn't feel particularly heavy in our test, even with a full tank. The brush even pulls the device forward and the floor nozzle practically glides over the floor. With the device on, we could measure peak pulling forces of 2.1 kg (on average between 1 and 2 kg) that you need to apply to pull the device back. This is very pleasant and leaves comparison devices like the One S5 Steam in the shade.
Weight of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 when mopping
The S5 Pro 2 has a height of 110 cm. At my height of 1.85 cm, this height is comfortable. For my partner at 1.58 cm, the handle could be somewhat lower to prevent the rear part from dragging on the floor. But even as a shorter person, you can handle it well, though you may need to bend your arm somewhat. Unfortunately, the handle cannot be adjusted in height.
The brush head measures 27.5 cm in width. The working width, which corresponds to the length of the brush, is 23 cm.

Display

The crystal-clear 2.1-inch LCD display is a real eye-catcher and offers the user plenty of helpful information. It closely resembles the Dyson V15 display.

The following information is displayed:

  • Animations to explain individual components
  • Cleaning status: dirty floor is indicated with a red light ring and changes to blue when cleaned
  • Cleaning mode (AUTO, MAX, ULTRA, SUCTION mode)
  • Maintenance notices (e.g., when self-cleaning is required) and error messages
  • Battery level during cleaning and charging

In combination with the voice announcement, it quickly becomes clear what needs to be done. Only small drawback: The display is a real dust magnet and needs to be wiped occasionally.

Handling

Initial Setup

After unpacking, the device is quickly and easily assembled within minutes. For the first setup, all essential steps are sensibly placed directly on the packaging. A card is also attached to the device that summarizes essential operating instructions.

Attention: The device should be charged for 4-5 hours before first use

When turning on, the device first explains which components exist. Then you fill the water container, remove the protection from the roller, and can get started.

Guidance and Maneuverability

The brush roller continuously pulls the device forward. With the rubberized wheels, pushing and pulling proves to be quite smooth. When turning, however, you need somewhat more force. Also, you can't make large arcs, the brush head can only be bent slightly – a U-turn is not possible. The maneuverability is therefore moderate. Otherwise, the guidance is pleasant.

For breaks, the device has a standing function, meaning you can conveniently lock it in place and let it stand.

Cleaning Under Furniture

The device can be tilted down to an angle of 142 degrees. Between standing (=90 degrees) and lying on the floor (=180 degrees), that's somewhat over half the way – in short, you can't lay the device nearly flat. This means you can reach under furniture at most with the brush head and can only mop there to some extent. Anyone who wants to mop deep under furniture must still resort to a hand mop or move or lift the furniture.

Control: Buttons and App

Buttons

The device itself has three control buttons: one to turn the device on, one to change the suction mode, and one to activate self-cleaning in the charging station. When starting, Auto mode is activated by default.

App

Tineco offers an app for its devices that displays numerous information about cleaning and device status. The app is available for both [url="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tek.merry.globalpureone&hl=de&gl=US",name="Android",title=""] and [url="https://apps.apple.com/de/app/tineco-life/id1453788142",name="iOS",title=""]. The installation with Android worked smoothly for us after we deactivated mobile data.

Tip: However, we only allowed the Tineco access to the guest WiFi – that's completely sufficient.

Within the app, you can download a language package (including German, French, Spanish), view cleaning reports, create a cleaning schedule, and perform firmware updates. Maintenance notifications are also displayed. Additionally, the user manual is available digitally.

Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2: Device status in the app
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2: Device cleaning report in the app
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2: Device user manual in the app
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2: Device settings in the app

In sum, the app is a nice-to-have that, in our experience, is rarely used. Nevertheless, it may have its justification for malfunctions or for certain insights into the cleaning routine, and so Tineco's app is for us the "dot over the i" ☺.

Battery: Runtime and Charging Time

The [url="https://amzn.to/3uG1HIc",name="Tineco One S5 Pro 2",title=""] is equipped with a 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery. This enables an average working time of 35-40 minutes in AUTO, ULTRA, and suction modes. We managed to simply mop 85 m² in this time. With additional passes with tougher dirt and multiple wiping of some areas, however, it became tight battery-wise – we usually finished cleaning the 85 m² area with under 10% battery. We can therefore confirm the manufacturer's specifications of 100 m² for simple mopping. If you choose MAX mode, the runtime is reduced to about 28 minutes, which corresponds to approximately 70 m². Consequently, large areas must then be cleaned in stages.
The charging time from 0 to 100 percent is 4-5 hours.

Incidentally, the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 is protected against splash water (e.g., rain) – It meets protection class IPX4.

Noise Level

Suction Mode

The noise level of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 can be described as quite pleasant. We measured the following values:

Self-Cleaning Mode

Besides suction, the device also generates some noise during self-cleaning, which is somewhat louder than the device when vacuuming itself. Self-cleaning takes about 3 minutes. Here we could measure the following noise level:

Function of the Charging and Cleaning Station

The charging and cleaning station of the S5 Pro 2 has multiple functions:

First, the wet vacuum is hung in it after the mopping process is finished and can be charged.

It also serves as a base to prevent moistening the floor during drying. This way, self-cleaning can also be performed without problem without soiling the floor.

On its side are practical holders mounted in which brush roller, filter, and cleaning tool are dried, while the replacement roller and filter can be installed in the Tineco S5 and thus the device is always ready for use without the parts developing bad odors due to poor ventilation. A smart solution.

Small disadvantage: Unfortunately, the whole package looks somewhat untidy when placed in direct view.

Cleaning the Tineco One S5 Pro S2

After cleaning, the device should be regularly cleaned. It's therefore crucial that all parts can be easily disassembled and are easily accessible.

Most frequently, emptying the waste water container and removing dirt and hair residue from the tank as well as the HEPA filter are necessary. In addition to automatic self-cleaning, the brush and head part must also be manually cleaned from time to time.

Cleaning the Tineco One S5 Pro S2 in the Test

The tank is easy to clean: Already during mopping, it's occasionally necessary to empty the waste water container. You can easily remove it from the device (shown in the image below using the One S5 Steam as an example) and then simply pull the cover up. Quite a bit of dirt and hair collects here quickly, which I preferred to empty in the toilet. This has hygienic reasons on one hand and prevents clogging the sink on the other. While you can rinse everything out, hair must sometimes be pulled from the pre-filter, so occasional contact cannot be avoided. Afterward, you can easily rinse the remaining dirt with clear water.

Tineco One S5 Pro S2 cleaning Tineco One S5 Pro S2 waste water tank

The HEPA filter can also be rinsed with water, but should then dry for at least 24 hours, so this makes sense especially after cleaning. Drying works fastest on the windowsill with a tilted window or on the heater (attention: don't place directly on the hot heater), but also works well in the holder at the cleaning station.

The brush roller is only magnetically fixed and can be pulled out to the left after loosening the cover on the foot part. Hair and dirt usually collect behind the brush, which can be removed with a damp cloth. The brush is best rinsed with clear water.

Tineco One S5 Pro S2 removing brush rollerTineco One S5 Pro S2 cleaning brush

Tip: With longer use, it's occasionally necessary to replace the brush roller. Some users have also washed the brush roller in the washing machine and were able to extend its lifespan. However, it's important to wrap the hard plastic parts well and preferably wash the brush with other soft fabrics, e.g., old towels and rags, to avoid damage to the washing machine and brush roller.

If the seals and connections on the vacuum are still dirty, you can easily clean them with the small cleaning brush.

Tineco One S5 Pro S2 cleaning brush

The entire cleaning process takes about 3-5 minutes. 🥳

Self-Cleaning

The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 offers a convenient self-cleaning function. After completing cleaning and sometimes in between, the wet vacuum recommends performing self-cleaning. To do this, you place the device in the cleaning station and activate self-cleaning on the handle.

The brush roller is then rinsed with water and the dirty water is immediately sucked up again. There should be sufficient fresh water in the tank for the cycle, otherwise the cleaning process is interrupted and you must refill the tank. Finally, air is blown onto the brush and it is thus lightly dried. Unfortunately, in our test, hair and fibers remained hanging on the edge of the brush roller and were not sucked up. The suction station was also slightly sandy afterward. It must therefore occasionally be cleaned manually as well.

Tineco One S5 Pro 2 self-cleaningTineco One S5 Pro 2 self-cleaning result Result of self-cleaning

After the brush roller has been cleaned, it's best to place it in the side holder for drying and install the replacement roller. The same applies to the HEPA filter.

FAQ

How do the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro and One S5 Pro 2 differ

The Tineco S5 Pro 2 has an Ultra mode in contrast to the S5 Pro, in which the cleaning water is electrolyzed using electricity. Externally, you can see air bubbles rising in the fresh water tank during the process. Electrolyzed water is known for killing bacteria and pathogens naturally. The process takes about 30 seconds. According to the manufacturer, the cleaning process should then be particularly thorough.

You can find a detailed comparison of previous Tineco models here – Link to [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4202/tineco-one-s5-vs-s5-pro-vs-s5-combo—unterschiede",name="Tineco Floor One comparison",title=""].

What is the Ultra cleaning mode?

In the Ultra cleaning mode of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2, the cleaning water is electrochemically charged (electrolyzed). This improves its disinfecting effect. The advantage is that you can kill bacteria and germs with the electrolyzed water without steam and addition of cleaning agents. This saves money and is user-friendly. The benefit is difficult to verify with the naked eye without laboratory testing. Therefore, a certain trust in the technology is required here to recognize the feature as useful. Incidentally, the electrolyzed water is also used for self-cleaning the brush.

What is the suction mode?

In suction mode, no fresh water is added by the Tineco device for cleaning, but only liquids on the floor are sucked up. The brush roller still rotates.

How do the Tineco Floor One S5 and One S5 Pro 2 differ

The Tineco One S5 has neither the Ultra cleaning mode nor the animated LCD display that adorns the One S5 Pro 2. Another function that only the "Pro" models have exclusively is the suction function in suction mode. Here, only water is sucked up, but no fresh water is added for mopping. This function is suitable for sucking up liquids. Otherwise, there are no noteworthy differences.

Those who don't need the display with supporting animations can save quite a bit of money with the [url="https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0915C748N?tag=produck-21",name="One S5",title=""].

Is voice output also possible in German?

Yes, you can download and transfer a language package via the app. The language itself is clear, although I find the voice somewhat takes getting used to. In addition to the German language package, others such as French and Spanish are also available. For which hard floors is the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 suitable?

The One S5 Pro 2 is basically suitable for all common, smooth hard floors, including granite, marble, linoleum and plastic floors (e.g., vinyl), laminate, or sealed parquet.

On unsealed, oiled parquet, I would proceed somewhat more carefully, meaning first the entire parquet should be thoroughly vacuumed to avoid scratches. Then you can mop the floor with little and cold water. However, I would only do this 1-2 times per month. Otherwise, dry wiping is sufficient.

With uneven natural stone (sandstone), its cleaning performance is also limited, as it simply cannot penetrate the cracks in the floor with its brush.

Is the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 also suitable for carpets?

No, its performance or suction power is not sufficient for this. However, there is a suitable alternative from Tineco – The Carpet One, which is specifically designed for upholstery and carpets. [asin="B09NM23W8W",type="standard"]

Can you use the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 without the app?

Yes, that's possible. The app is mainly useful for voice output settings (e.g., volume). The rest are not necessary functions, but only support. For example, you can find maintenance notices, the user manual, create cleaning schedules, and view cleaning statistics. You can also turn off WiFi via a button on the back of the main module.

Does the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 leave streaks when mopping

During mopping itself, it doesn't leave water streaks left and right, but sucks everything up well. After drying, you can see slight streaks against the light. Of course, it also depends on the cleanliness of the floor and brush roller. After several mopping passes and with some cleaning agent, streak formation gradually becomes less. Meanwhile, my floor is streak-free.

Can you also use a different cleaning agent than Tineco's

The manufacturer itself naturally advises against using cleaning agents from other manufacturers. Possible damage to the sensors could limit full functionality. In practice, however, you regularly read that conventional all-purpose cleaners or [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/3335/reinigungsmittel-fuer-wischroboter—roborock-ecovacs",name="cleaning agents for mopping robots",title=""] are also used. I personally use quite little cleaning agent, also thanks to the Ultra mode on the One S5 Pro 2. Therefore, I play it safe and trust the [url="https://amzn.to/3JbcPCS",name="Tineco cleaning agent",title=""].

Our Conclusion on the Tineco S5 Pro 2 Test

The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 achieved an excellent cleaning result in our test. Both in the everyday test and in the stress test, dirt could be reliably removed. With the battery, the device is well suited both for spontaneous use and for areas up to about 100 m² if everything is to be cleaned in one go.

Cleaning the device is quite simple and done in a few minutes. The convenient self-cleaning is also absolutely helpful, even though small residues, especially hair, remained and the brush had to be manually cleaned afterward.

Compared to the predecessor without animated LCD display, the One S5 offers the One S5 Pro 2 only few advantages, but demands a significantly higher price for it. Currently, we would therefore recommend buying the older One S5, which also achieves an excellent cleaning result and only lacks the suction mode and Ultra mode. With a good deal, however, the One S5 Pro 2 wet vacuum is an absolute purchase recommendation for anyone who wants to claim the currently best cleaning result in Tineco's wet vacuum range.
