In this article I show you what distinguishes the wet vacuum cleaners Tineco One S5 and S6 from each other.
Tineco Floor One S5 and S6 – What Are the Differences?
The Tineco One S5 series long represented the best wet vacuum cleaners on the market. The new devices are still top class, even though the competition has become stronger.
When comparing the [url="https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0C23DFMT6?tag=produck-21",name="Tineco Floor One S6",title=""] versus [url="https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0915C748N?tag=monstec-21",name="Floor One S5",title=""] it's immediately noticeable that the S6 has so far only been available in one version on the market, while the S5 is offered in 6 different versions. We have already compared these in earlier comparisons ([url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4202/tineco-one-s5-vs-s5-pro-pro-2-s5-combo-und-s5-steam-im-vergleich-2023",name="to the comparison",title=""]). With the S5, you can find the right device for virtually every need.

Currently, however, Tineco only offers 4 models of the S5 series on their homepage: The One S5 as the base version, the One S5 Steam with steam cleaning, the One S5 Pro 2 with additional cleaning programs and LCD display, and the S5 Combo, whose motor unit can be converted into a cordless and handheld vacuum.

In the following, I will discuss the differences between the S5 series models and the Tineco Floor One S6.
Tineco Floor One S6 – Further Developments
The One S6 is now available in a S6 Stretch version and in a S6 Switch version.
Stretch means that the model can be laid flat on the floor, which simplifies cleaning under furniture. It also has hot water cleaning and hot air drying of the brush roll and a 5-minute longer runtime. The fresh water tank has moved from the main unit (hand guide) to the floor nozzle, so less weight rests on the arm. The waste water container now better separates solid particles from water, which simplifies cleaning. Particularly the hot water cleaning and hot air drying have proven useful in tests, as the brush becomes cleaner and dries better, thereby smelling less. However, I personally always wash the brush of my S5 Pro 2 by hand with some soap under hot water and dry it outdoors outside the station, as this promises the best cleaning. So money can be saved here with a little extra effort.
The S6 Switch is a combination variant where the motor unit can be converted with various attachments into the familiar vacuum mop or a handheld vacuum. Anyone currently looking for both will find a practical combination solution here.
Tineco Floor One S7 – Manageable Optimizations
The Tineco Floor One S7 Pro already appeared last year, which is basically an optimized variant of the S5 Pro 2. It has edge-to-edge cleaning on both sides and its own wheel drive. However, some of the features aren't really worth it, as [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4504/tineco-floor-one-s5-pro-2-vs-s7-pro-im-vergleich",name="my comparison",title=""] shows. Against this stands a high price. The newer Tineco Floor One S6 seems to offer a much more attractive package of functions at a more reasonable price. Meanwhile, there are further variations, such as the battery-powered Floor One S7 Steam and Floor One S7 Switch.
1. Mopping Function
The new Tineco Floor One S6 and S6 Stretch offer edge-to-edge mopping function on both sides. This is possible because the floor roller is mounted on a spindle that drives the roller from the inside. With the S5, only one-sided edge-to-edge cleaning (or minimal edge) is possible, as the drive is mounted externally on the other side.

Due to the new function, the working width of the Tineco One S6 is also somewhat wider than the Floor One S5.
The S5 Steam leaves an edge on both sides when mopping.

Another refinement is found in cleaning the brush during mopping. The Floor One S6 uses the new MHCBS™ technology. This cleans the brush thanks to a scraper in combination with clean water during mopping, which prevents the brush from redistributing collected dirt and cleans it with clean water. The advantage over the S5 models is limited to system optimization, as these also already have a scraper.

2. Cleaning Modes
The Tineco models sometimes differ in the cleaning modes available for selection. The following differences can be found here:
- The Tineco One S5 Steam offers steam cleaning alongside the Tineco S7 Steam. Due to higher energy requirements, the first model was still corded. The S7 Steam, however, now has a battery.
- The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 electrolyzes the water in Ultra mode, so it is electrochemically charged to eliminate more germs. This mode is missing from the Tineco One S6.
- The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 and S6 have a simple suction mode in which the wet vacuum only sucks up liquids but doesn't add water. The others among the currently offered S5 models don't have this function.
We have already extensively examined the Tineco Floor One S5 Steam and S5 Pro 2 and Tineco Floor One S7 in previous tests. You can find the links below:

3. Display
The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 was the first vacuum mop from Tineco with an animated LCD display. The Tineco One S6 and all other One S5 models only have a simple but functional LED display. Here all functions and notifications are displayed using symbols, which is completely sufficient in practice.

4. Self-Cleaning
All models offer a self-cleaning function in the station. The Tineco One S6 has a somewhat optimized self-cleaning function. Through centrifugal air suction the brush is better dried, which helps reduce odors and germ formation.
At the same time, the manufacturer advertises that hot air cleaning has an unfavorable effect on the microbacterial load of the environment. However, in the new S6 Stretch you find exactly this feature. The brush thereby becomes cleaner, but the marketing language is quite contradictory.

Tineco Floor One S5 vs. S6 – Which Model Should I Buy?
The true advantage of the Tineco S6 over the S5 series lies in the edge-to-edge cleaning on both sides with greater working width.
The high-end model of the S5 series, the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2, can score points with an LCD display and Ultra mode. In practice, however, these features are to be seen as "nice-to-have" and don't bring too much added value. I would definitely prefer the easier corner cleaning of the S6 over these.
The comparison to the S5 base model looks different, which is sometimes significantly cheaper (currently over 120 euros). In return, it offers at least one-sided, edge-to-edge cleaning, but has no pure suction function. However, it also effectively sucks up liquids in auto mode. In sum, it would therefore be my first choice, unless the S6 is heavily discounted.
Anyone who values steam cleaning should consider the S5 Steam with cable or S7 Steam with battery, as the S6 doesn't yet offer a solution here. Anyone looking for a multifunctional combination device can combine several devices in one with the S6 Switch.
Bottom line, the Tineco Floor One S6 is a successful extension of the S5 series that sets priorities in essential areas and thus delivers an attractive overall package. Price-wise, the S6 is superior to the S5 Pro 2. Anyone who can do without bilateral edge cleaning will find the right wet vacuum in the Floor One S5.
The newer S6 Stretch has three other noteworthy trump cards with better brush cleaning, flat design, and somewhat longer runtime. So anyone who wants to clean deep under flat furniture and values less effort in cleaning the brush is well served with the Stretch.
