In this article, we compare the new Tineco Floor One S7 Pro with its predecessor, the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro 2, and examine the features of both wet-dry vacuum cleaners.

The Tineco S7 – Sophisticated Innovations with Minor Flaws Compared to the S5 Series

Tineco is known for its cordless vacuum cleaners with innovative functions and the latest technology. In recent years, the Chinese company has built a good reputation and convinced many users of the quality of their cleaning devices. We also extensively tested the [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4379/tineco-floor-one-s5-pro-2-im-test-2023-ein-akkuwischer-auf-hoechstem-niveau",name="Tineco One S5 Pro 2",title=""], [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4514/tineco-floor-one-s7-pro-im-test-der-neue-testsieger",name="Tineco One S7 Pro",title=""] and [url="https://www.produck.de/quack/4420/tineco-pure-one-s15-pro—grosser-test-2023",name="S15 Pro",title=""] thoroughly, with very good results.

Relatively new to the market is the Tineco One S7 Pro. It offers similar functions to the Tineco One S5 Pro 2, but also brings some useful innovations. In the following comparison Tineco One S5 vs. Tineco S7 Pro, we examine the differences and similarities between the two wet mops and clarify whether the additional investment for the new features of the S7 Pro is worthwhile.

Update November 2024

Tineco Floor One S6 – New Variants

The One S6 is now available in two new variants: the S6 Stretch Version and the S6 Switch Version.
The Stretch Version is characterized by being able to lie completely flat on the floor, making cleaning under furniture easier. Additionally, it features hot water cleaning function and hot air drying of the brush roll as well as a 5-minute extended battery life. The fresh water tank has been moved from the main unit to the floor nozzle, making handling easier as the device is lighter in hand. The dirty water tank now separates solid particles from water more efficiently, making emptying and cleaning simpler. The hot water cleaning and hot air drying features have been particularly praised in tests, as they ensure a cleaner and better-dried brush roll, minimizing unpleasant odors. Personally, I manually clean the brush of my S5 Pro 2 with hot water and some soap and let it air dry. With this additional effort, you can save costs as the station is less stressed.

The S6 Switch Version is a flexible combination solution where the motor unit can be used with different attachments either as a vacuum mop or as a handheld vacuum. For users looking for both functions in one device, this variant offers a practical all-in-one solution.

Tineco Floor One S7 – New Variants

Meanwhile, there is also the Tineco One S7 as a "Steam" variant, i.e., as a cordless steam cleaner. For those who find the hygiene of the Ultra mode insufficient, the S7 Steam is a good extension. However, the high energy consumption negatively affects the range when mopping.

There is also a combination variant (the so-called "S7 Combo") that combines vacuum mop and handheld vacuum. The motor unit of the S7 can be removed and converted into a cordless vacuum with the appropriate attachments. For those looking for an all-in-one solution, the S7 Combo is the right choice. Design and Dimensions:

Both models have a sleek, modern design with similar dimensions. The weight of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 and the Tineco One S7 Pro is also the same at 4.5 kg.

Tinecon One S7 Pro vs. S5 Pro 2
The Tinecon One S7 Pro and S5 Pro 2 differ only slightly in appearance

Externally, only the larger display of the Tineco One S7 Pro stands out, which is really easy to see and gives a very modern impression. From a practical standpoint, it's not a significant advantage. The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 and even the Tineco One S5 also display all essential data via the display.

The large display makes the S7 Pro a real eye-catcher

A refinement of the S7 Pro is the rotating display in the charging station. When you place the Tineco One S7 Pro in its charging station, the display automatically faces forward so you can see the cleaning status, battery status, and charging state at a glance. This is a practical function that makes it easier to keep track of your vacuum cleaner's charging status. At least for the battery/charging status display, the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 could already do this.

The newly designed handle is also noticeable. Previously, you had to switch between individual modes by pressing buttons, but now you can swipe right, left, up, or down to switch between different cleaning modes and navigate through the menu. However, since you're often in auto mode anyway, the previous control system wasn't really a problem either.

Handling Tineco One S5 Pro 2 vs. S7 Pro

The older version of the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 was already easy to control and maneuver. It already showed forward pulling induced by brush rotation. The new S7 Pro is now equipped with even grippier wheels that have their own bi-directional drive. The wheels detect which direction the vacuum mop is being moved and support pushing or pulling the device. This makes the work much easier, which is particularly important during long cleaning sessions. Unfortunately, we found in testing that the wheels, especially on very smooth floors, don't always detect direction changes and thus rotate against the direction of movement, making the entire movement process more difficult. However, with the low assistance setting and slow movements, this problem rarely occurs.

The bi-directional drive makes guiding the device easier

Another significant difference in the comparison Tineco S5 Pro 2 vs. S7 Pro is the newly designed brush roll. While we were still convinced with the old model that the one-sided edgeless design was the final stage of cleaning evolution (the roller has to be driven somewhere), Tineco has now proven us wrong. The brush is now held magnetically on both sides and still driven equally solidly. This allows the Tineco S7 Pro to achieve almost edgeless cleaning on both sides (only 1cm edge). The S5 Pro 2 with one-sided drive still had to be turned laboriously to reach the edge. Depending on the furniture setup, this wasn't always possible. In this respect, you can now reach even more corners and edges with the S7 Pro – thumbs up for that 👍. Another advantage of the new construction is the somewhat wider brush, which enables a wide working surface.

In terms of tilt angle, the Tineco One S7 Pro and S5 Pro 2 are equal. Both get under furniture equally well, though they only reach deeper areas to some extent.

Both Tineco vacuum mops can be tilted equally well.

Speaking of furniture: Here another advantage emerges – The floor nozzle is equipped with LEDs, which we already know from the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro. The LEDs make dust and stains even more visible and can thus be effectively removed. The LEDs are a good addition in themselves, although in my opinion they're not quite as helpful on a vacuum mop as on a cordless vacuum. After all, you can already see where you've been through the wet trail. But as I said, dirt becomes even more quickly recognizable with them, especially in dark corners and not least under furniture!

The bilateral edgeless cleaning is one of the main advantages of the S7 Pro

Runtime

One of the most important differences between the two models is the battery life. The Tineco One S5 Pro 2 has a runtime of about 35 minutes, while the Tineco One Pro 7 reaches up to 40 minutes runtime. The Tineco One S7 Pro has a 3900 mAh battery installed, while the Tineco One S5 Pro 2 has a 4000 mAh capacity battery. Consequently, energy efficiency has been increased in the newer model. The 5 minutes aren't crucial, but with my current 80 m² living space, I just barely made it through with the S5 Pro 2. The new one would give me some breathing room and thus allow for a bit more precision. 😄 If you have a large apartment, this might be the deciding factor. Those who need to charge in between anyway are well served with the Tineco S5 Pro 2.

Cleaning

The cleaning of the device has essentially remained the same. However, the self-cleaning can be switched to a short and a long mode, so the brush can be better cleaned according to the level of soiling. Afterwards, it is somewhat dried with air. The older variant already showed good cleaning performance, which I haven't missed anything about to this day. The air drying couldn't deliver any noticeable difference compared to the non-air-dried S5 Pro 2 in my test. It simply ran too briefly for that. However, if it ran long, the noise level of 69 dB would be disturbing in the long run. So it's another nice-to-have feature on the Tineco S7 Pro.

Price and Conclusion for the Comparison Tineco One S5 Pro 2 vs. S7 Pro

A significant difference between Tineco One S5 Pro 2 and S7 Pro currently still exists in the price. While the Pro 2 has already conquered new price ranges, the S7 Pro swings up another level with currently 799 euros. That is, in my opinion, a very steep price. Especially when you see the slight optimizations compared to the Tineco One S5 (without Pro), which already cleans similarly well but is available for 400-500 euros.

Those who don't want to compromise on anything still can't avoid the Tineco One S7 Pro. Notable advantages are the bilateral edgeless cleaning, the somewhat longer battery life, and the LED lighting of the floor nozzle, which together with the other features make the S7 Pro the currently best vacuum mop on the market in my view. However, the innovations aren't enough for me to put the S7 Pro in first place in the price-performance check. Here, the Tineco S5 Pro 2 offers me the much more well-rounded package and therefore remains my current recommendation for a good wet-dry vacuum cleaner!
