Design & Build Quality

The Oclean X Pro 20 S shows at first glance that it wants to be more than just a functional sonic toothbrush. The housing appears modern and high-quality, the choice of materials leaves a solid impression. With its slim form factor, it sits comfortably in the hand – even though the slightly textured surface can still become somewhat slippery when wet. The weight is surprisingly light, so the brush doesn't feel too heavy and can be used comfortably in daily life. Particularly a real advantage when traveling.

Special attention is paid to the integrated display, which extends almost the entire length and stands out clearly: It not only shows modes, WiFi status and brushing information, but can also be personalized with individual graphics (e.g. your own portrait) or even weather info. Operation is done via a central button depending on the version. I was used to touch from older Oclean models and had to get used to the button first. Good thing is that it always responds reliably.

For color variants, Oclean offers a good spectrum, consisting of classic black and white, as well as a mint green variant. The latter gives the brush an individual character that reminds more of a lifestyle product than a pure hygiene tool. The build quality is consistently high – gaps and transitions are cleanly executed, nothing seems cheap or flimsy. Overall, the Oclean X Pro 20 S thus conveys high quality.

The Oclean X Pro 20 S scores with remarkable functional diversity that goes far beyond the standard repertoire of a sonic toothbrush in the mid-class segment. At the center are the brushing programs: Four modes are directly selectable – Quick Cleaning, Sensitive Gum Care, Whitening Polishing and Deep Cleaning. This is complemented by individually customizable routines in the app, which allow up to 32 intensity levels (see images below). This allows the toothbrush to be tailored exactly to personal needs – from quick cleaning runs to thorough intensive care.

The technical equipment includes an integrated pressure sensor that automatically reduces power when brushing too hard, as well as a smart timer that divides the brushing process into intervals and stops after the recommended duration. I would have liked optical feedback to recognize the optimal pressure when brushing.

Particularly exciting is the combination of 6-axis gyroscope and AI algorithm, which monitor brushing in real time. Missed spots are displayed on the display or in the app, supplemented by an evaluation of the cleaning result.

The Oclean X Pro 20 S also shows thoughtfulness in additional features: The "S" variant includes several brush heads, a travel case and a magnetic wall mount. Charging is convenient via USB-C, optionally also wirelessly via a suitable charging station. Connection to the app is via Bluetooth and WiFi, with the display even able to show additional information like weather data. Some may appreciate this – For me, brushing is the focus, I see all other data on my smartphone.

Brushing Performance & Cleaning Results

In practical testing, the Oclean X Pro 20 S convinces with very high cleaning intensity. The powerful Maglev motor with up to 84,000 movements per minute ensures that plaque is reliably removed. Particularly the Deep-Cleaning mode is praised in multiple tests: The teeth feel noticeably smooth and polished afterwards. I couldn't detect a difference from the expensive Oral-B iO 10 in their respective strongest modes. The Quick-Cleaning mode at 1.5 minutes is rather short and too brief for thorough cleaning for many users, but perfect for in-between or when you need to hurry in the morning.

The protection of gums is positively notable: The integrated pressure sensor automatically reduces power when pressing too hard. Additionally, with the Sensitive mode and special brush heads for sensitive gums (Gum Care), gentle alternatives are available. This makes the brush suitable for both intensive cleaning and sensitive users. I was mostly using the Whitening mode, which seemed like a good compromise between both levels.

Through the combination of 6-axis gyroscope and AI algorithm, hard-to-reach spots are captured and missed areas are directly shown in feedback. In practice, this feature is helpful, although tests also report that recognition doesn't always work flawlessly. Nevertheless, the visual feedback facilitates more even coverage of the entire dentition.

Subjectively, the Oclean X Pro 20 S leaves a very clean feeling after brushing – especially after the longer programs. Even though the Whitening mode generally showed no clearly visible brightening effect in tests, the general thoroughness of cleaning convinces. This achieves a level that users describe as significantly above a classic manual toothbrush and on par with established premium sonic toothbrushes. For those who only care about brushing, the X Pro 20 is already the right tool.

Operation & User-Friendliness

In daily use, the Oclean X Pro 20 S proves overall comfortable to handle. The ergonomics are well-designed: switches and display are easily accessible, handling in bathroom daily routine is uncomplicated. The housing is slim and modern and the weight is well-balanced. One criticism: the smooth (slightly textured) surface can become somewhat slippery with wet hands. Otherwise, the build quality convinces with stable materials and clean transitions, making the brush feel valuable.

Operation is via a central button. Via the display, modes, timer and feedback functions can be controlled directly. This includes visual feedback on missed brushing areas or an evaluation of the brushing process. In combination with the app, detailed statistics and health reports can be accessed, routines adjusted and additional functions like Apple Health synchronization used. However, I must also criticize that the feedback functions don't always work flawlessly and the learning curve with the many setting options is initially somewhat steep. The UI is also somewhat cluttered and the translations are sometimes a bit awkward.

The app itself offers detailed health reports, morning and evening routines as well as synchronization with services like Apple Health – a clear added value for users who want to actively track their dental care. The changing of brush heads is straightforward: The attachments can be easily attached and removed. Cleaning the device itself is also problem-free thanks to IPX7 water protection – the toothbrush can be rinsed under running water without damage.

Battery & Charging Behavior

The manufacturer states a battery life of up to 40 days for the Oclean X Pro 20 S when brushing twice daily for two minutes. In practice, tests confirm a long runtime, but point out that this value is only achieved with moderate use. With more intensive programs like Deep Cleaning or frequent use of smart features, the runtime in the test environment reduced to around 17 to 19 days – significantly below the official specification, but still above average compared to many competing models.

Charging is convenient via USB-C, which saves most people from carrying extra cables when traveling. A full charge takes about three hours. The "S" variant additionally includes a magnetic wall mount that simultaneously serves as a charging station.

For remaining runtime, the brush offers a display indicator, so the user always has the battery status in view. This makes the X Pro 20 S also suitable for travel: In practice, a full charge with normal use easily lasts for two weeks of vacation without needing to carry a charger.

The Oclean X Pro 20 S comes with a particularly comprehensive accessory package in the "S" variant. Included alongside the brush handle are a travel case, a magnetic wall mount with charging function as well as several replacement brush heads. By default, three different attachments are included: Ultra Clean for intensive cleaning, Ultra White for optical brightening and Gum Care for sensitive gums. The standard version without "S" package is cheaper but contains no wall mount and no case.

Two Ultra Clean brushes currently cost just under 14 euros, so 7 euros each. That's relatively expensive. However, there are also simpler brushes at more affordable prices.

This means the brush is hardly disruptive even in bathrooms with thin walls or during evening use.

The vibrations are also even and well-controlled. Through the FlexFit technology in the brush heads, impacts are additionally cushioned, so neither teeth nor gums are excessively stressed. In daily use, the brush is thus perceived as comfortable – even in higher intensity levels.

In comparison to other models, tests confirm that the X Pro 20 S operates more quietly than many competing products in the same performance class. While other premium sonic toothbrushes often develop a noticeable humming during operation, the Oclean remains pleasantly restrained and provides an overall more comfortable brushing experience.

Somewhat getting-used-to is that the toothbrush initially starts with a gentle humming. Here the brushing programs can still be changed by simply pressing the button. After a few seconds, the actual program then starts. From then on, the program can only be changed with a long button press. After brief practice, no longer a problem…

Especially in the "S" variant with additional accessories like travel case, wall mount and multiple brush heads, the range of functions is exceptionally comprehensive in this price class. Tests highlight that comparable models from established brands with similar functionality are usually significantly more expensive.

In comparison to competing models, the Oclean X Pro 20 S is frequently mentioned as a price-performance tip.
