In our test of the DREO TurboCool 711AS, we put the outdoor misting fan through its paces in terms of cooling performance, spray mist, ease of use, noise level, and energy efficiency.
Refreshment and Spray Mist in the Record Summer of '26 – DREO Powers Up
A tower fan for indoors and outdoors that promises plenty of wind power and, as the icing on the cake, produces spray mist for extra cooling on hot days – that is what the DREO TurboCool™ outdoor misting fan 711AS promises. At first glance, pretty COOL!

We were able to test the device in sweltering 35-degree heat under the roof and in the garden, and one thing up front: Even though I already have a few smaller fans in the house, a real “wind machine” like this was long overdue, and the hotter it gets, the more every euro invested is worth it. Of course, the DREO is not the only powerful fan on the market. However, its price-performance ratio is especially attractive. That is why I brought the device home and put it through its paces for two weeks.
The device is currently sold out in many shops. I hope it will be available again soon. You can buy the device here, among other places:

First Impression and What's Included
The Dreo arrives well packaged and, at around 6 kg, is not particularly heavy. Right on top inside the packaging is a visual guide that makes assembly very simple. In about 3 minutes, the device is standing and ready for use.

The surface is anthracite-colored with a slight metallic effect. The plastic is well made and feels solid, even if it creaks here and there when pressed. According to the manufacturer, the fan is therefore protected against external weather influences such as UV radiation and water and offers IPX4 protection, meaning splash protection. On the front, the device stands out thanks to the LED display and the blue light unit below it (the so-called ambient light), which visualizes inputs such as the direction of rotation and thus provides good user feedback. It also gives the device a more modern look that enhances the otherwise plain body.

Two small mist nozzles on the front are striking, and I was very curious about their performance in the test – more on that later.
It should be noted that, at 1.07 m, the device is not exactly small, but that is to be expected from a tower fan, especially a powerful outdoor fan. The remote control is compact, feels good in the hand, and is largely self-explanatory.

Handling and Operation
Mobility, Safety & Construction
Thanks to its relatively low weight, the device is easy to move and sufficiently mobile for use in and around the house. On the back there is a practical recessed handle, which also serves as a slot for the remote control, i.e. for storing it. Despite its height, the tower fan stands stable and does not slip thanks to the wide base. Even outdoors, where the grass was somewhat uneven and there was also a crosswind, the device showed no signs of tipping over.
Manual control on the device and via remote control
The buttons on the top are sufficiently large, easy to see, and illuminated. They are also intuitive or easy to understand. Some of them have dual functions, which only became clear to me during the test after I had read the user manual. Virtually all everyday functions can be found both on the device and on the remote control, including in particular the adjustment of wind speed, oscillation, oscillation speed, continuous direction adjustment, mist function and lighting, timer, as well as various modes. There are also numerous settings in the app, which offers lots of “extras.” More on that below.

Overall, the device is easy to understand and does not require a long familiarization period. On the remote control, I was not entirely sure why the control of wind speeds was not assigned to the circular button but to separate buttons instead. But no big deal…
For households with children: To protect the buttons from children, a child lock can be activated via the app. Thanks to its height, however, the device is generally out of reach of small children anyway.
Which modes does the DREO 711AS offer:
Mode | How it works | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
Normal mode | The fan operates continuously at the manually selected speed level. The airflow remains steady and does not change its intensity automatically. | Targeted, constant cooling in everyday use |
Natural mode | The strength of the airflow fluctuates at regular intervals. This means there is no continuously identical airflow, but rather a varying breeze intended to mimic natural wind. | Relaxing, reading, or spending longer periods in the airflow |
Sleep mode | The fan gradually reduces its output and operates particularly gently. This is intended to keep noise and drafts as low as possible during the night. | Bedrooms, quiet periods, and nighttime operation |
Auto mode | The device takes the measured ambient temperature into account and adjusts the fan speed independently. As the temperature rises, the airflow becomes stronger; as the temperature falls, it becomes weaker accordingly. | Automatic cooling without constant readjustment |
App Control
The app is clearly designed. The connection is established quickly. Numerous functions can be used as a guest without logging in, while some are only available after registration.
Control is possible via both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
With Wi-Fi, logic can also be configured, for example linking to an external temperature sensor, motion sensor, or window contact sensors. Of course, multiple Wi-Fi-capable devices from DREO can also be combined.
In the app, you can first set all the functions that are also available on the device. In addition, the direction and oscillation can be fine-tuned, and schedules can be created.
The app also provides data, for example on the ambient temperature over time.
I really like the adjustable scenes.
One example: You are lying on a garden lounger and set “Sea Breeze,” then the wind strength changes to simulate a shifting seaside breeze. All that is missing is the sound of the ocean. Unfortunately, what you hear instead is of course the fan ramping up and down, so it is more of a nice extra when music covers the noise of the fan.
Various languages are available for the app, and other people can be invited to control it.

Voice Control
Pairing with the Alexa skill was done quickly. Alternatively, Google Assistant is also available.
You can view commands directly in the app. It is good that almost all relevant functions can be controlled by voice, which also worked well and reliably in the test. These include, among other things:
Turn the device on and off
Change mode
Change speed
Check temperature (unfortunately did not work in the test)
Control oscillation
Change direction
Turn ambient light on and off
Turn mist on and off

From my point of view, operation is one of the major strengths of the DREO AS711: classic directly on the device, convenient via remote control, detailed via app, and surprisingly useful in everyday life via voice control.
Test of Ventilation and Spray Mist Function
The fan came at just the right time for us, during the hottest week the country had ever seen. New heat records here and there. Since our apartment is on the top floor, it became more oppressive with each passing day, and the smaller fans barely provided any relief.
In the living room, we often ran the device only at level 2 to 3 out of 12. That was enough to cool down a bit, but not so strong that watching TV at the same time was a problem. The airflow is pleasantly even and starts at about knee height up to a good 180 cm at a distance of two meters.
Here near the Alps, it fortunately always cools down at night, and that is the big advantage of the device: At night, we can place it on the balcony and let 18-degree cold air flow into the apartment at maximum power even when there is no wind. By morning, we usually had a comfortable 22 degrees again, which, even with the daytime heat, was enough to live and work well. Thanks to IPX4 splash protection, even a small rain shower does not harm the device, so we could sleep without worry. All in all, a real and versatile upgrade during the hot days.

The highest wind setting really blasts, so you can still feel the airflow in the apartment even ten meters away. Outdoors, you also need a bit more power, which the device can definitely provide.
At the highest setting, however, the device is not quiet. I measured 56 dB directly next to the device.
The rotation or oscillation can be adjusted continuously in steps up to 150 degrees and fine-calibrated symmetrically or asymmetrically via the app. This makes it possible, for example, to cover an office room well from one side. The device is less suitable if it is meant to be placed in the middle. In that case, something like the [url="https://www.siio.de/switchbot-black-friday-test-airpurifier-floor-lamp-doorbell/",name="SwitchBot AirPurifier",title="Zum Test des SwitchBot AirPurifier"] would be quite interesting.
Operation During the Night
In night mode, the wind strength gradually decreases so that you can fall asleep well without being in a constant draft or having to search for the remote control. The lighting automatically turns off again after each input.
At level 1, you can practically not hear the device, even when standing right next to it. The measuring device sometimes showed no reading at all. However, a slight airflow can still be felt – great for focused work. Only from level 2 does the reading rise to around 33 dB and then gradually increase up to level 12. At level 6, the noise level of the DREO 711AS is still quite tolerable at 44 dB and already delivers plenty of wind. That is a good compromise for larger rooms, for example if you are working or watching TV at the same time.
Spray Mist Function
To be honest, I did not expect all that much from the spray mist function. Some users assume that it is also suitable for indoor use. First, however, it requires a water connection, and second, it makes the apartment humid, which can lead to mold problems. So I would not recommend it.

Outdoors, the mist reached up to 5 meters at a high wind setting. Crosswinds do interfere somewhat here, but you still get a fresh breeze again and again, which is enough to improve the cooling effect. I still had to get a 3/4 inch (2.6 cm thread adapter) so I could connect my Gardena hose. A bit of a shame that a standard connection is not installed directly or that an adapter is not included.

[asin="B0001E3UO8",type="standard"]
Overall, the mist function is a nice addition for the garden that I will definitely use from time to time.
My conclusion from the practical test: The ventilation is a real help, especially in great heat, and the spray mist function is a nice bonus outdoors. Anyone looking for extra cooling effect especially in the garden, on the balcony, or on particularly hot days gets noticeable added value here. All in all, I am very satisfied with the performance of the DREO 711AS.
Energy Efficiency and Standby
The measured values of the 711AS in the test are very good to exceptionally low for a tower fan. Even at the highest setting, consumption remains at 28.4 watts, below the rated power of many current tower fans. Comparable DREO models, for example, are specified at 35 to 45 watts; for tower fans in general, DREO often states an energy requirement of around 30 to 100 watts.
Level | Consumption | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
1 | 3.1 W | Exceptionally economical – ideal for quiet continuous or night operation |
2–3 | 6–7 W | Very low consumption |
4–5 | 9–11 W | Excellent efficiency, provided the airflow is already sufficient |
6–7 | 12–14 W | Very good compromise between performance and consumption |
8–9 | 16–17 W | Still extremely economical |
10–11 | 19–22 W | Very good value for high fan performance |
12 | 28.4 W | Clear jump in consumption, but still economical overall |
Example Operating Costs
With eight hours of operation daily and an assumed electricity price of 0.35 euros per kWh:
Usage | Annual consumption | Cost per year |
|---|---|---|
Level 1 – 3.1 W | approx. 9.1 kWh | approx. €3.17 |
Medium level – 10 W | approx. 29.2 kWh | approx. €10.22 |
High level – 16.5 W | approx. 48.2 kWh | approx. €16.86 |
Level 12 – 28.4 W | approx. 82.9 kWh | approx. €29.02 |
With the display turned on, it is about 3 watts more.
So How Energy Efficient Is the Device
In terms of pure power consumption, the fan is very energy-efficient. Levels 4 to 9 appear particularly attractive because consumption only rises moderately there. Compared with levels 10–11, level 12 requires around 30 to 50 percent more energy. However, it also delivers significantly more air performance, meaning higher airspeed and air volume. Considering the strong airflow, this is therefore a very economical result.
Cleaning
Cleaning is relatively simple. First, vacuum the device from the outside and wipe it down with a damp cloth. For more intensive cleaning, the rear grille can be unscrewed easily and rinsed under clear water. The fan blades, in turn, can be vacuumed with a handheld vacuum cleaner.
With regular use, the mist nozzles and the faucet connection should also be cleaned every two months and descaled in particular so that performance does not decrease. The best way to do this is to soak them for about 30 minutes in undiluted 5% white vinegar. After that, the limescale should be dissolved.
Overall, the fan is easy to maintain.
Price-Performance Ratio
At around 190 euros, the DREO TurboCool™ 711AS is in the upper mid-range among tower fans, but the price seems appropriate given its features. In addition to twelve power levels and smart control, the device offers a powerful mist function, wide oscillation, and an IPX4 splash-protected housing for outdoor use. In the DREO shop, the newsletter discount reduces the price by ten percent to around 171 euros, resulting in a good price-performance ratio.
[asin="B0GHNLCB55",type="standard"]
For comparison: the Dyson Cool AM07 costs 349 euros from the manufacturer and is thus around 159 euros more expensive. Dyson offers the brand-typical bladeless design and an airflow of up to 500 liters per second, but it has neither a mist function nor a specified outdoor suitability. The smart Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 even costs 499 euros, but also combines the fan with a HEPA-13 air purifier and is therefore only comparable to a limited extent.
Overall, the DREO is not a bargain at 190 euros, but for a powerful outdoor misting fan it is competitively priced. At the discounted direct price of around 171 euros, the offer is especially attractive and provides significantly more functionality per euro than a classic premium tower fan from Dyson.
My Conclusion on the DREO Tower Fan ReviewConclusion on the DREO TurboCool 711AS
First things first: The DREO TurboCool 711AS really does crank things up properly. Even on low settings, it generates a pleasant airflow, while level 12 offers enough power to ventilate even larger rooms or move cool outdoor air into the apartment at night. At the same time, the device operates surprisingly efficiently and is barely audible on the lower levels.

Operation is clearly one of its strengths: Whether directly on the device, via remote control, app, or voice command – it is hard to control a fan more conveniently. The icing on the cake is the spray mist function, which provides additional refreshment outdoors. However, it is not suitable for indoor spaces because of the resulting humidity. In addition, a water connection is required and, depending on the garden hose, an extra adapter may be needed.
At around 190 euros, the DREO is not an inexpensive fan. In return, however, you get a powerful, versatile, and weather-resistant device that impresses indoors and outdoors alike. Anyone who regularly suffers from intense heat, as was often the case in the summer of 2026, and is looking for a small or large breeze with the occasional pleasant sea spray, will get a strong overall package with the DREO 711As that I can recommend in the "coolest" possible terms. ✅
