DREO TurboPoly 765S Review: Smart 3D Fan for a Fresh Breeze Throughout the Room

Fresh air in every direction – the DREO TurboPoly 765S kicks things up a notch

A fan for just under 200 euros has to do more than simply push air from A to B. That is exactly where the DREO TurboPoly 765S comes in: with horizontal and vertical oscillation, it is designed to distribute airflow three-dimensionally throughout the room instead of merely creating a narrow stream in front of the device. According to the manufacturer, it moves up to 1,500 CFM and reaches a distance of up to 120 feet, or around 36 meters, which certainly gets your attention. On top of that, there are twelve speed levels, six modes, app control, MotionSync, and Matter support. Perfect for bringing a bit of freshness into the smart home.

On paper, that sounds like a pretty ambitious overall package. At the same time, with a fan in this price range, the question naturally arises whether the many extras actually provide real added value in everyday use or simply make for a particularly long feature list. That is exactly what I took a closer look at in this review – from airflow performance and noise level to operation and smart home integration.

Design and handling

The DREO TurboPoly 765S is well packaged and delivered in just a few individual parts. In addition to the fan head, base, and rods, the package includes a separate table stand, power adapter, remote control with holder, batteries, and the necessary screw. Assembly is correspondingly straightforward and completed within just a few minutes. One particularly positive point is the weighted base: despite its comparatively slim design, the fan stands securely and does not wobble even during fast oscillation.

With a height of around 99 to 112 centimeters, the 765S can be positioned well next to a bed, sofa, or desk. For use on a table, the upper unit can be detached from the stand tube and placed on the included tripod base. In that configuration, the device measures only about 49 centimeters. The conversion works without any problems, but because of the screw connection it always takes a bit of time. A quick click mechanism would have been more convenient. I also would have preferred if the power cable could have been plugged into the base of the stand. Of course, that would have made the attachment mechanism even more complicated.

Overall, the build quality leaves a solid impression, even though plastic is used for the most part. It has a matte finish and shimmers slightly bluish with gray nuances, which looks quite elegant and high-quality. The LED display is integrated centrally and is therefore easy to see at all times. All in all, the device fits well into a modern living environment.

Thanks to its low weight, the fan can be easily carried between different rooms. It can be gripped and carried conveniently from the back of the housing. There is no battery included, however: the 765S requires a permanent power outlet, which should be taken into account when choosing where to place it.

Lots of air, little noise? How the TurboPoly 765S performs in everyday use

The actual strength of the DREO TurboPoly 765S lies not only in its high airflow performance, but above all in how flexibly it distributes that airflow throughout the room. Instead of simply swinging from left to right, the fan head moves horizontally by up to 150 degrees and vertically by up to 100 degrees – Dreo calls it three-dimensional oscillation. If you direct the airflow toward a wall or the ceiling, the moving air is distributed much more evenly throughout the room. This means the airflow can not only be aimed specifically at people, but also spread broadly across the room.

The resulting air circulation is a real benefit when used together with air conditioners, helping to distribute cool air optimally throughout the room. For me, there was another specific advantage: my attic bedroom unfortunately has no balcony, but the neighboring room does. From there, I was able to blow cool night air directly through the bedroom window and, on a high setting, cool the room from 27 degrees down to 22 degrees within an hour in the test (with outside temperatures of 18 degrees), then let it continue running gently through the night – restful sleep saved. The upward-directed airflow was especially helpful because it allowed me to blow the cool air upward into the room and displace the warm air, which otherwise lingers under the ceiling for a long time.

In summary, the wide-ranging 3D air circulation makes the following use cases possible:

• Distributing cool outdoor air after airing out the room

• Supporting an air conditioner

• Circulating warm air in winter

• Drying laundry faster

• Even ventilation of larger rooms

As for airflow performance itself: even in the middle of its twelve total speed levels, the 765S already delivers plenty of power. For use at a desk or next to the sofa, the lower to mid-range settings are usually sufficient. If, on the other hand, you want to distribute fresh air from an open window throughout the room as quickly as possible, you can use the higher settings or Boost mode. DREO states a maximum airflow of 1,500 CFM and a range of around 36 meters. Such lab figures are hard to verify in everyday use, but the strong air movement is clearly noticeable at 5 meters and still easy to feel even at 10 meters, as our test below clearly shows.

The advertised 20 dB is therefore only achieved at the lowest power setting. There, it actually operates quietly enough to be suitable for the bedroom. However, the noise level increases noticeably with higher performance. At the highest settings, and especially in Boost mode, the 765S is impossible to ignore. Given the high airflow performance, that is hardly surprising, but it should be taken into account when making a purchase decision.

In addition to manual adjustment, a total of six operating modes are available. In sleep mode, the fan gradually reduces its output, while nature mode simulates changing wind strengths. This generally feels more pleasant than a constantly strong airflow, but in a quiet environment the regular changes can also feel a little restless.

With the DREO TurboPoly 765S, operation does not end with the buttons on the fan head. In addition to the classic remote control, there is also the DREO app, which allows nearly all functions to be adjusted much more precisely. This includes not only the twelve speed levels and six operating modes, but also the horizontal and vertical direction of the airflow.

Particularly practical is the option to define the oscillation angles individually. This means the fan does not always have to cover the full range of 150 degrees horizontally and 100 degrees vertically. Instead, for example, only the area between the sofa and dining table can be covered. Different levels can be selected for this. In addition, positions, schedules, and temperature-dependent automations can be set up in the app. Initially, no account is required, but not all functions are enabled for "guest users," so in case of doubt you may still need to create a DREO user account.

One special extra is MotionSync. Here, the remote control is pointed toward the desired position and the fan head follows that direction. When trying it for the first time, it feels almost a bit playful, but in everyday use it proves quite useful for quickly finding the right position, for example when the airflow needs to be redirected to a different seat.

Smart features and Matter

For smart home users, in addition to Wi-Fi, Matter support is also likely to be interesting. This allows the TurboPoly 765S to be integrated via various methods into Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or Home Assistant and automated together with other devices. Basic functions such as speed and oscillation are available there. For example, airflow speed and circulation can be adjusted based on presence in the room.

However, Matter does not fully replace the DREO app. Precise angles, MotionSync, and some special functions remain exclusive to the manufacturer’s app. Although advanced integrations for systems such as Home Assistant offer more setting options, they partly rely on the DREO cloud, meaning there is no completely "internet-free" solution. Matter works well for simple routines, but if you want to control every detail, it is hard to avoid the app.

In the test, I was able to pair the device with Alexa without any complications. After that, numerous voice functions were available to me, which you can see in the following view.

Power consumption and possible uses

Despite its high airflow performance, the DREO TurboPoly 765S operates comparatively efficiently. In normal mode, the device consumes around 10–13 watts. In the test, around 0.7 watts were measured in standby with Matter activated. Ten hours of operation in nature mode at about level 3 including oscillation consumed approximately 0.1 kWh. Even with daily use over several hours, electricity costs therefore remain manageable. The following table is intended to illustrate the costs:

Price and value for money

With an average price of around 190 euros, the DREO TurboPoly 765S is already in the upper mid-range among table and pedestal fans. There are significantly cheaper models for pure air movement that also do their job. The extra cost therefore lies less in the basic function and more in the combination of 3D oscillation, high airflow performance, quiet operation at low settings, and extensive smart home control.

Above all, the 3D oscillation, the display, the high performance, and the versatile control options including remote control, Wi-Fi, and Matter clearly set the 765S apart from classic pedestal fans. The option to use it either as a pedestal or table fan also increases its practical value. However, you should actually need these functions. If you simply want a bit of airflow at a desk or next to the bed, the device is "overdimensioned" in terms of both performance and features.

For that reason, the high price is not entirely justified without reservation, but it is understandable. For smart home users and larger rooms, the TurboPoly 765S offers a convincing overall package. If you can do without the app, Matter, and flexible 3D air distribution, however, you are paying for features that will hardly be used in everyday life. There are simpler alternatives, including within DREO’s own lineup.

My conclusion from the test

The DREO TurboPoly 765S impresses above all with its strong airflow performance, broad 3D oscillation, and pleasantly quiet operation at low settings. Especially in larger rooms, it distributes air much more flexibly than a classic pedestal fan. The precise control via app, MotionSync, and integration through Matter also provide real added value – provided these functions are actually used.

For smart home users and larger rooms, the TurboPoly 765S is a high-quality and versatile solution. If you are simply looking for a basic fan, a cheaper DREO model is the more economical choice.
